Foil Blocking

Foil blocking is both a science and an art, and here at Spink & Thackray our craftsmen and craftswomen have spent decades mastering the technique.

We use the traditional foil blocking method of heating up individual blocks of metal, known as hot foil blocking, and applying pressure to the foil to transfer the design to the material.

Because we use this traditional method the quality of the foil printing is unrivalled, and it also means that an embossed impression is left on the material.

This additional tactile element makes the end product really stand out as a thing of beauty by giving it a quality feel as well as a quality look.

Expert Craftsmanship

Our foil blocking process has been designed to make it as easy as possible for you – we just require images of the artwork you would like foil block printing.

We then use this to create a metal die of the artwork. You then chose the type of foil you would like – options include gold, silver, black, white, rose gold and more – and then our experts get to work.
